Making Twisted Cord
Program led by Pam and Janice
Cording for finishing ornaments can be made from many different types of thread, including metallic braids. We will demonstrate how to make one and two color twisted cording. Samples of cording using different numbers of strands will be shown.
If you wish to make some twisted cord, bring several skeins of floss. For those wishing to make the twisted cord to finish the Petite Garland ornament, 3 skeins of floss are needed as it is a ten strand cord.

Double-Sided Counted Canvas Ornaments
Designed and led by Pam Gardner
A variety of Jean Hilton’s signature stitches are used to create center motifs which are then surrounded by a choice of borders. A row of blanket stitches edges the finished design and are used to whip stitch the two sides together. At the July meeting we will start stitching the two sides and work on the finishing at the September meeting.
The ornaments can be stitched in a variety of threads on 18 count canvas. Most of the samples used #8 and #5 pearl cotton as well as Kreinik #8 metallic braid. Since there is a current shortage of Kreinik braid, Au Ver a Soie metallic braid makes a great substitute but is not readily available locally.
If there is enough interest, materials will be ordered, and kits will be provided at cost. Sign-up at the May and June meetings.
